This series of Notebooking Central booklets is a response to teachers who asked for Notebook Foldables that: provide graphics to aid comprehension and memory; provide duplicable front tabs to enhance interactive notebooks and provide space for student responses on the back of tabs, underneath tabs, and on the notebook page surrounding tabs; and provide ideas for the use of Notebook Foldables within different content areas. These booklets are a complement to Dinah Zike's Notebook Foldables for Spirals, Binders, and Composition Books.
This booklet, though repeatedly requested, has been long in coming because of the tricky nature of its subject. We see this resource book as a useful collection of dependent Foldable scaffolds to draw upon as you support youthful writers in learning the purpose, importance, and methodology of conventions and grammatical applications--this booklet is best utilized with the real writing and reading contexts you provide.
There is no grade level assignment to this book, nor is there a scope and sequence provided. State standards and practicing classroom teachers were consulted in the development of this title, and those connections and ideas are reflected among the 135 templates offered. You might find that some students need review far beyond the time when the skill or concept was initially presented, or that some students, though mature, have a language background other than English. The assortment of templates presented should prove to be valuable additions to a wide range of writers' notebooks.
